Tradition records that the Apostles, dispersed throughout the universe to preach the Gospel, found themselves miraculously gathered around the deathbed of She who had presided over the birth and early development of the Church. Three days after the death of Mary, visiting the virginal tomb before parting, they were the happy witnesses of a great wonder. Harmonious hymns were heard in the air; a delicious perfume was exhaled from the tomb of Mary; and when it was opened, only fresh, ruddy flowers were found there: the Angels had transported the Mother of the Savior to Heaven, in body and soul.
