Beautiful antique Catholic church processional banner featuring a finely detailed appliqué of the Blessed Virgin Mary with hand-painted facial features. The banner is crafted from elegant ivory liturgical brocade with embroidered rose and lily motifs, accented throughout with gold metallic thread embroidery and finished with decorative gold fringe. A sleeve along the top allows for hanging or display. This piece would make a stunning addition to a collection of ecclesiastical antiques, religious art, or Catholic devotional décor. It displays beautifully and was originally used in a Catholic church. 39″ H × 28″ W. Condition Good, stable antique condition consistent with age and church use. This Victorian age shadowbox depicts the crucifixion of Christ displayed with all of the instruments of the passion. Prayer and meditation on this piece allowed a 100 day exemption from one’s stay in Purgatory so allows indulgences. 1877 is the date of its creation. It is in its original frame and contains dried flowers within. Could do with a good cleaning as age has left its dust. The frame could be repainted as some of the original wood has flaked somewhat. Impressive as it is a little restorative gold paint could make this really pop or leave it as it is in it’s aged patina. Great for religious collectors or those who appreciate gothic decor.

Antique French crucifix featuring a hand-carved bone corpus mounted on a dark stained wooden cross. The figure of Christ displays fine carving details, including an expressive face, crown of thorns, anatomical modeling and separately carved arms. The contrast between the pale bone and the dark wooden cross gives this devotional object a striking presence. Likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, this crucifix was intended for private devotion and now makes an appealing piece for collectors of religious antiques, Catholic art and ecclesiastical objects.
