The trim has a hand-sewn cotton band along upper edge at the back showing some rusted marks where the trim was attached to an altar or a bracket or a wooden panel. It is a marvellous confection of fine tiny woven golden bands and white embroidered flowers. The design is totally original and beautiful, including a like-twisted freeze at the top and fabulous festoons all along the trim. The scalloped bottom edge is trimmed with a small hand-crocheted chainette stitch, view close-ups. It measures a large 5.50″W x 112.20″ or 3.11 yards L / (285cm x 14cm). It does show wear at both ends and some worn areas and missing threads commensurate with great age and use, but at more than 150 years , these are glorious marks of its previous life and condition is reflected in price..
