Hello and thank you for looking. This beautiful textile is a vintage French coat made from the most wonderful black worsted soft cotton with a twill weave. This beautiful coat dates from around 1890! The buttons are cover in a burnt orange fabric and there is fabulous red trim up the front and on the collar. SUCH a wonderful coat with a lovely shape! The lining at the top interior is glazed with a lovely sheen. There are openings in each side that are intended to allow you to access pockets inside without having to unbutton your coat, which is good because this has a lot of buttons!! This coat has a somewhat military air but may have been used as a religious garment, or perhaps a riding coat. This would still be great for wearing, design inspiration or display!! Such a beautiful piece in great condition! MEASUREMENTS : This lovely textile measures approximately. 13.25 inch shoulders. 18 inches across the waist, laid flat. 17.5 inches across the chest, laid flat. CONDITION : This coat is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. A few tiny marks but generally in beautiful condition indeed!
