Miniature Portrait Madonna Jesus Hand Paint Porcelain Gold Gilded Frame 1850-80. Antique Victorian Italian hand painted Raphael’s “Madonna of the Chair” a portrait of Mary and baby Jesus. Circa 1850 and – 1880. The painting on porcelain, is well done and in excellent condition. It bears its original tags from Flor & Fidel Picture Dealers, Florence, Italy. Flors & Fidel was a 19th Century picture dealer and stationery merchant located in Florence Italy. It measures approximately 3.25″x 2.5″ unframed – see photos. Plaque is suitable for mounting and hanging in original or new frame or repurposing and mounting in a piece of jewelry. Frame: original carved wood and gesso gold gilded frame. Frame some minor decoration loss / breakage of outer wood scrolling or decoration. Back has a hand written name and notation. Frame is usable and wired for hanging. The frame measures approximately 8″ x 5″ – see photos for measurements. About the painting: the portrait of Mary, Madonna, holding baby Jesus. The hand painted portrait on porcelain plaque is an original art work after the original work painted by Raphael in 1514 hangs in the Palazzo Pitti in the permanent collection of Galleria Platatina in Florence Italy. The Raphael portrait is a religious icon. Copies of it has been entirely hand painted by artist. The icon was marketed to religious pilgrims and to grad tour travelers. Very rare pair of antique hand-carved wooden Santos figures, each measuring approximately 16 inches tall. Both figures wear crowns and long robes, decorated in traces of gilt and polychrome paint in gold, red, and black. One figure holds a shield decorated with a large cross. The other stands with his hands clasped in prayer, a gesture of devotion and humility. The expressive faces, elongated forms, and richly worn finish suggest they were carved in the late 19th to early 20th century c. These would have originally been displayed on a home altar or chapel, and today they make a striking addition for collectors of religious art, Spanish Colonial antiques, or rustic folk décor. Original paint and gilt with age-related wear, patina, and losses. Handsome surface showing natural crackling and color fading, consistent with 100+ years of age. Both figures stand solidly. Just picked yesterday from the Long Beach Antique Flea Market.. Gorgeous, old Antique Gesso/Polychrome Statue of Jesus & possibly Joseph (don’t have enough expertise in this arena- any help would be lovely). I assume age wise, it’s at least 100 years old, maybe even more. Could be 18th C for all I know. If you have knowledge, please contact me. MEASUREMENTS: Measures 8 1/2″ tall by 3″ wide.. CONDITION : In As Found, Antique Condition. As shown with the photos, they are hunks gone- two at the bottom, and one on the head of Joseph? Holy drilled at about theirf waist height… Looks like it was attached to something else? … And lastly, various nicks and rubs throughout the piece but I believe it adds to the charm. Description of item for sale. This wonderful hand-carved solid oak antique pulpit with a bookrest is from France. We date it to the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. It rotates on its base so it can be positioned to face as the user wants. It is in very good antique condition with no notable damage except for several normal cracks due to shrinkage of the wood as it aged. The photos detail all of the cracks.
