D escription: Solid Silver chalice cup with cover possibly religious 6 inches high. Measurements: 16 cms high or approx 6 inches high. Base diameter 6.5 cms by cms by cms high. Hallmarks: there are some hallmarks only to finial which are not. None others that I can find however the silver bowl of the chalice & the cover has a silver planished form to it on close inspection , The piece has tested by proof at 925 silver. The finial knop to the cup cover has a dink. Please see the photos which form part of the description. This is a very nice unusual item. Large Antique Religious Carved Santos probably 1800s to Early 1900s. The virgin Mary is 32 inches to the top of her crown. I feel that she may have once had hair, but it also looks as though it has been airbrushed on-but it looks original. Arms and hands are reticulated. She stands on a platform that is hollow underneath. Her eyes are brown glass. She holds the Christ child with her arms and hes connected to her body by a spike on his side which goes into her side. He may have had hair once, as well, I believe, but again it is airbrushed on and looks original. His eyes are also brown glass. His arms are reticulated as well. His crown has been replaced in recent years, it appears. There are two stars missing from Marys crown. The crown is attached to her back. See all photos for details. This is the only damage I detect. All reticulation functions and all hands intact. Condition commensurate with age. Truly a beautiful piece of found local history.
