Small shabby antique religious angel figurine, Philippine folk art, church relic, church salvage. Sourced from an old estate from the Northern Mountain Province, Philippines. Catholicism was brought to the Philippines in the 16th century by Spanish explorers. Very old, tattered, unsure of exact material composition. 6 1/8 inches, widest point. 1.5 inches deep. Broken fingers, repaired arms, repaired wings. With a lot of cracks, chips and scratches. Nails on its side, please be careful. Fragility due to age.

This is a fascinating work, titled on the back The Mount of Wisdom , showing people walking up the mountainside to a godlike figure. No matter your religion, its a scene that catches your attention and makes you look closer to see what is happening. I found two mentions of the artists name online, but I dont know anything about them. Both mentions were in connection to Louisiana, but thats all the info I found. As for condition, the bottom right corner has a line scuff from something being pressed into it. Theres also a less obvious indentation to the left of the godlike figure. You barely notice it when the painting is evenly lit, but in one photo I used one light from the right side to make it more obvious. The painting is in a solid wood frame that looks to be original.
