Important & rare antique allegorical 16th Century Netherlandish Gilt-Wood Triptych Painting. The gilt-wood case having iron strap hinges and gilded decoration, the central panel painted with the story of ” Tobias and the Angel “. The left wing painted with a knight in armor holding half a pomegranate fruit and a sword (to symbolize the protection of fertility and chastity). The panel to the right decorated with a female figure sowing seeds (to signify new life and growth). The painting is egg tempera on wooden panel, the triptych having three hinged panels with gilded decoration below & gilded decoration to the front of the case also, size is 30″ (76cm) tall x 32″ (81cm) wide when fully open. Provenance; from an important private New York. Collection, the triptych comes complete with a certificate of authenticity. A rare & guaranteed original painting from the later part of the Northern Renaissance.
