Pair of Antique Neo-Gothic Figural Candlesticks. This is a beautiful and heavy pair of antique silver-plated candlesticks, featuring highly detailed religious figures as the stems. One depicts the Virgin Mary in a pose of mourning, and the other depicts St. John the Apostle holding a book (the Gospels). Design: Ornate Gothic Revival style with flared acanthus leaf bases and decorative urn-shaped candle cups. Dimensions: Approximately 26 cm (H) x 10.5 cm (W). / 10.23″ x 4.13″. Weight: Total weight for the pair is 888 grams, giving them a very solid, high-quality feel. There is a lovely aged patina, and the silver plating has worn through in high-relief areas, revealing the warm bronze/brass tones underneath. These pieces are in authentic antique condition. There is significant “bleeding” of the silver plate (where the base metal shows through), which adds to their character and proves their age. There are no major dents or repairs visible.
