Rare Antique 1894 Madonna di Loreto Medal – Catholic Protection Pendant Italy. SIZE: 3.3 x 4.0 CM. WEIGHT: 14.2 GRAMS. It is crafted in bronze or brass tone metal, showing beautiful age patina and fine relief detail. Front Side (Obverse): Features the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus seated atop the Holy House of Loreto, being carried by cherubs (angels), symbolizing the miraculous translation of the Holy House from Nazareth to Loreto. The surrounding inscription reads: “VI CENTENARIO DALLA TRASLAZIONE” (6th Centenary of the Translation) and the date “1894-95″ is engraved at the bottom. This watch fob belonged to my maternal grandfather. The religious medal represents the Virgin Mary with floral patterns, lilies and roses, it is made of galvanized gild. The representation is definitely Art Deco so I think this is dated from the 1920s my grandfather died in the early 30s. The medal clasp is stamped Murat; there are many stamps style and this is is definitely from the 20s. This watch fob has a swivel dog clasp and a black ribbon AND very unusual, a miniature mechanical pencil. All is original as well as the box with a satin padding.

Antique Gold Plated Abram Begat Isaac And Evangelion Religious Pendant Medal. We did a lot of research on this pendant and found several pieces that were quite similar, but none identical to it. The information we found may or may not be correct. It is simply meant to provide a description of the pendant to accompany the photos. Please see the photos to make your own determination regarding this rare piece, and feel free to ask questions. The following information is what we found during our research. The pendant appears to be from the 19th century. One side shows an older man walking behind a younger man with the inscription Abram Wiirt Isaac Gen XX. ” Based on the context of the Book of Genesis, “Abram/Abraham begat/wiiirt Isaac refers to the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham that he would have a son in his old age through his wife Sarah. “Wiiirt” appears to be a misspelling or phonetic interpretation of “begat” or “begot” (meaning’fathered’ or’brought into existence’), often used in older English Bible translations to signify direct genealogy. The other side shows Christ carrying the cross with the inscription Evangelion. While the cross was a symbol of shame, the evangelion. Declares it the “good news” because it is where Jesus paid for human sins, making salvation available. It transforms a brutal death into a victorious act of grace. The base metal of the pendant is unknown, but it appears to have been gold plated. The edge of the pendant is a hand-etched braided rope design, which continues into the handcrafted bail. The piece measures 1-3/8″ wide by 1-3/4″ long including the bail. This rare antique gold plated religious medal pendant has surface wear and the gold plating is worn off in spots, as shown in the photos.
