Antique Gold Plated Abram Begat Isaac And Evangelion Religious Pendant Medal. We did a lot of research on this pendant and found several pieces that were quite similar, but none identical to it. The information we found may or may not be correct. It is simply meant to provide a description of the pendant to accompany the photos. Please see the photos to make your own determination regarding this rare piece, and feel free to ask questions. The following information is what we found during our research. The pendant appears to be from the 19th century. One side shows an older man walking behind a younger man with the inscription Abram Wiirt Isaac Gen XX. ” Based on the context of the Book of Genesis, “Abram/Abraham begat/wiiirt Isaac refers to the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham that he would have a son in his old age through his wife Sarah. “Wiiirt” appears to be a misspelling or phonetic interpretation of “begat” or “begot” (meaning’fathered’ or’brought into existence’), often used in older English Bible translations to signify direct genealogy. The other side shows Christ carrying the cross with the inscription Evangelion. While the cross was a symbol of shame, the evangelion. Declares it the “good news” because it is where Jesus paid for human sins, making salvation available. It transforms a brutal death into a victorious act of grace. The base metal of the pendant is unknown, but it appears to have been gold plated. The edge of the pendant is a hand-etched braided rope design, which continues into the handcrafted bail. The piece measures 1-3/8″ wide by 1-3/4″ long including the bail. This rare antique gold plated religious medal pendant has surface wear and the gold plating is worn off in spots, as shown in the photos.
