This is a magnificent and rare Ethiopian Orthodox Processional Hand Cross, a significant piece of liturgical art used by priests during ceremonies and blessings. Hand-cast using the ancient “lost wax” technique, this cross features a unique spherical central element. While one side features a functional hinged enclosure that opens to reveal a hand-etched icon of two holy figures, please note that the opposite side’s cylinder is decorative and does not open. The craftsmanship is exceptionally detailed, featuring. Central Icon: A hidden internal engraving of religious figures within the functional hinged side. Figurative Elements: Depictions of winged angels and saints integrated into the cross arms. Symbolic Base: The bottom “taboot” base features an etched open book with Ge’ez script (the liturgical language of Ethiopia) and a winged seraph on the reverse side. Rare 18th century Punched Tin light Religious Lamp Processional Lantern. Dispatched with The French postal service tracked and signed. A rare early Religious Processional Lantern. I have left it exactly as I found it not so much as a coat of wax!! . Size 42 x 17cm aprox. I have found a few punched tin lamps from the 18th century in my travels around France and I have seen a couple of these Lanterns but so expensive I could only look. Its had a life and as light rust in places but there are loads of photos so have a good look. The door works as it should and the candle holder is in place. A Beautifully Designed Pair of Gothic Style Religious Lanterns. They are in exceptional condition. The lanterns are All Brass. They were Professionally cleaned, hand polished, and a clear finish applied about 20 years ago. I have owned them for this period and they have maintained this brilliant dramatic finish.
