You never know what the Gypsy Lady will bring next! Vintage or antique religious statue of Jesus — I would say maybe. Large piece is roughly 18 long. Beautiful big glass eyes, beautiful coloring. Marked “spain” on the back. Considering the age it is in quite good. A few paint flakes on the back of the hair. Is very good, but the other hand has a missing fingertip. And another finger is chipped. The face is amazing, so lifelike, colors are. Excellent, and the glass eyes are outstanding.

Antique Authentuc Hand carved, hand painted 19th century Spain folkart religious nicho of Saint James in handmade glass case. Had a professional appraisal done yesterday Which will be included with the sale.. Professional appraisal for its age states in excellent condition Consistent with its age. The Box is blue. The case, shadow box, display case has a glass door. Which is surprisingly intact. It also States that the piece was created by a Spanish colonial artisan. It measures 21″ X 14 1/2″ X 6 1/2. The only Provinance I have is how it came To my friend. Her boss gave it to her about 10 years ago, she said her husband received it from an elderly women friend 50 years ago when he was dying of cancer. That’s all we know. It is a fine religious statue – beautifully finished, softly colored and moving. Lovely addition to any Santos collection or Christmas creche display! As you can see, there is paint chipping and loss around the bottom within the grass area, overall soiling, discoloration and age related display wear — there are several fine shrinkage cracks to the wood on the underside as well – these are stable and do not detract or show other than as fine lines around the bottom edge.

Antique Carved Wood Religious Madonna Virgin Mary, Pierced Brass Halo, Spain. ANTIQUE HAND CARVED MADONNA SANTOS STATUE. Wonderful antique hand carved wood religious statue of a kneeling Madonna measuring about 7″ in height and 3-3/4″ wide. Featuring a beautiful figure of the Virgin Mary, she is depicted with head down, hands clasped, resting on one knee – completely carved from wood, bearing a thin layer of applied gesso and then hand painted in pastels as shown. Complete with pierced brass metal halo which is pin mounted to the head back (original), condition is lovely with no wood chips, repairs, or damage.
