You are looking at a genuine and totally original early Mediaeval – circa. 18th Century Religious Cross of Protectiion, thought to be a Souvenir from the Grand Tour, but could well be earlier- I just do not know the exact age, …. Simply a very desirable example, that would be the main talking point in anyone’s Collection. Measures approximately 1.25 (3.00 cms) inches tall and approximately 0.70 inch (1.65 cms) wide. Retains the original top drilled hole for the provision of a cord for hanging around the neck of the wearer. A unique and highly-important ancient historical artefact. Found in the early 1960s in a country house clearance. Ex famous Museum Display Item in the mid 1960s and again in another important Museum the early 1970s ; and carefully stored in a private collection since that time.
