Rare Vintage Art Deco Italian & Czech Rosary – Amethyst Glass, Caged Filigree, Mother of Pearl. An exceptional, highly collectible heirloom rosary dating from the Art Deco/Interwar period (circa 1920s-1940s). This exquisite piece features a striking blend of Italian devotional assembly and renowned Bohemian craftsmanship, making it a rare find for serious collectors of antique religious material culture. Design & Material Details. The Crucifix: A beautifully crafted, traditional 3-pin riveted Mother of Pearl (MOP) cross. The horizontal and vertical bars are precisely secured with original miniature metal rivets and finished with a classic stamped silver-tone end cap at the top loop. Our Father (Pater) Beads: Striking, high-end “caged” or encased filigree beads. These feature vibrant amethyst purple glass roundels enveloped in intricate, pierced brass/tombac filigree wrappers-a hallmark technique of the historic glass and metal artisans of Gablonz (Bohemia). Ave Beads: Rich, plum-colored amethyst molded glass beads with crisp, machine-faceted geometry that speaks to historic Czech glass-house production. The Centerpiece & Liturgical Text: A die-struck white metal/brass-base Miraculous Medal (Our Lady of Graces) featuring a dual-tone patina. The top rim bears the legal “ITALY” export stamp. The reverse features a highly unusual, complete English-stamped liturgical seasonal guide for praying the Glorious Mysteries. This complex, pre-Vatican II rubric makes this particular center medal an incredibly scarce variant. Measurements & Technical Specifications. Era: Circa 1920s-1940s (Art Deco / Interwar Period). Country of Origin: Components sourced from Bohemia (Czech); Final assembly in Italy for the English-speaking export market. Materials: Faceted Czech glass, Mother of Pearl, Brass/Gilt alloy, White metal/Silver-plate alloy. Color Palette: Deep Amethyst Purple, Iridescent Cream MOP, Warm Aged Gold, Oxidized Antique Silver. Superb vintage condition with a gorgeous, undisturbed age-appropriate patina. The mixed-metal components show elegant tonal variation, with areas of the silver plating naturally wearing to reveal the warm brass base metal underneath (“bleeding” patina). The faceted glass beads are structurally sound with only minor friction wear/flea bites on the facets near the chain loops, entirely consistent with a devotional piece of this age. All connections and original rivets on the MOP cross remain secure. Dating back approximately 150-200 years, this manuscript originated in Italy and later made its way to Israel. It is highly valued for the exceptional beauty of the parchment and the striking, elegant calligraphy. The parchment has retained its ink remarkably well, leaving the letters crisp, dark, and easy to read. The Subject: David’s Song (Shirat David). These fragments contain the complete and continuous text of “David’s Song” (Shirat David). This beautiful, poetic psalm is a magnificent hymn of gratitude and praise to God for delivering King David from the hands of all his enemies. Notably, this exact song appears twice in the Hebrew Bible: once in the Book of 2 Samuel (Chapter 22), and again in the Book of Psalms (Psalm 18). It is written in a special traditional poetic layout, known as “brick upon brick, ” visually representing the structural beauty of the song. The Rarity of Vowels and Cantillation Marks. Scrolls of this nature are exceptionally rare. Standard Torah or Nevi’im (Prophets) scrolls used for public reading in synagogues are strictly written with consonants only-they never contain vowels (niqqud) or musical cantillation marks (te’amim). The fact that this scroll was meticulously handwritten with both vowels and cantillation marks indicates it was likely commissioned for a highly specialized purpose, such as advanced personal study, exact pronunciation reference (Tikkun Korim), or a unique community tradition. Finding antique parchment scrolls with these features is highly unusual and highly sought after by collectors. This offering consists of 3 separate parchment pieces, which I presume were originally part of a single, continuous scroll. Measurements (from largest to smallest). 34.5 x 17 cm approx. 13.6 x 6.7 inches. 24.5 x 16 cm approx. 9.6 x 6.3 inches. 22.5 x 6 cm approx. 8.9 x 2.4 inches. Considering its significant age of 150-200 years, the manuscript shows expected signs of wear and time. There are some tears, cuts, and remnants of glue/tape on the parchment. However, if properly placed in an impressive display frame, it will be beautifully preserved and protected to last for hundreds of more years. A Perfect Family Heirloom. Please see the photos to appreciate the unique writing style. What a wonderful opportunity to take a genuine, historical piece of the Bible, frame it respectfully, and display it in your home. An antique Samuel/Psalms scroll fragment makes for the ideal family heirloom. You and your children will gain a deeper appreciation for the Bible by holding one of these early Hebrew biblical manuscripts in your hands. Please review all photos carefully, as they are a central part of the description. An incredible and rare collector’s item! Important Notice for U. Antique lot 3 hand carved polychrome wood panels dating back to 18th/19th century. All 3 show genuine age, polychrome paint with appropriate wear and patina, and would display beautifully together or split across a collection. Piece 1 – S Giorgio (St George and dragon) A carved polychrome wood relief depicting St George on horseback slaying the dragon, with the rescued princess standing at the right. Hand inscribed S Giorgio along the base. Stepped wooden base approximately 9.5″ tall and 7″ wide. Likely 18th/19th century abc appears to be an original altar or retablo fragment later mounted for display. Piece 2 – Holy family / Religious scene relief Companion style carved polychrome wood relief showing a robed family group – a male figure (likely Joseph), a female figure, a child between them, with two winged angels above holding a canopy or crown. Mounted on a matching stepped wooden display base. Approximately 9.5″ tall and 7″ wide. Same workshop or tradition as piece 1. Piece 3 – Carved openwork floral pattern A pierced carved wood architectural pattern with stylized foliate and floral motifs in deep red and yellow-green polychrome. Likely an Asian architectural fragment (Balinese, Javanese Chinese), late 19th to early 20th century, originally part of a piece of furniture, screen, or building element. Approximately 7″ x 6″. All 3 pieces show paint loss, shelf wear, minor losses, and patina entirely consistent with age. The two religious reliefs appear to be mounted to their wooden bases at a later date (likely early to mid 20th century). A common practice for repurposing church art fragments for the decorative market.
