This VERY EARLY SANTO CROWN has the most intricate cut metal work imaginable. Has various sizes of cut glass with 4 bezels on each glass. There is only 1 cut glass which is not present. There is 1 scroll of the crown which is unattached but you cannot tell this unless you slightly pull away from the top ball adornment. Other than that, there are some minor bends in the brass here and there but nothing that draws away from this incredible crown. She is truly a crown of glory. An extremely talented metal worker made this crown. On the top, there is some old candle wax which I dare not touch. This beautiful piece of artwork measures 6″ tall and 3 1/8th” across the center of the headband. I hope my pictures do justice to this one of a kind fabulous pieces of art. Please ask questions if you have any. I will pack extremely careful but should you wish to add options please let me know.

Religious processional banners have been used for centuries during Catholic processions, pilgrimages, and religious festivals known in Brittany as. Traditionally depicting Christ, the Virgin Mary, saints, or sacred inscriptions, these banners served both as devotional objects and as symbols of parish identity and unity. Most surviving examples date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when renewed religious devotion inspired churches to commission richly embroidered banners. Earlier examples are exceptionally scarce, with only a small number of pre-French Revolution banners surviving today. These banners were typically crafted from luxurious textiles such as velvet, silk, linen, or jute and embellished with elaborate embroidery using gold and silver thread. Decorative fringes, tassels, and wooden poles allowed them to remain visible and withstand outdoor processions. This example is a genuine period piece that embodies both the artistic excellence and religious heritage of its era. An exceptional opportunity to acquire an authentic antique Catholic processional banner with remarkable craftsmanship, historical significance, and undeniable presence. A wonderful collector’s piece that proudly bears the beautiful patina and honest wear earned through more than a century of devotional use.
