17th century Christ Child Antique Oil Painting. This oil on copper is a charming work painted during the 17th century and depicts Christ as a child resting in a landscape and holding a cross. The artist followed the work of Orazio Samacchini who was an Italian painter of the late-Renaissance and Mannerist style. Samacchini participated in the decoration of the Vatican Belvedere and of the Sala Regia of Pius IV. Held in its original carved and gesso gilded frame with cherubs head which is utterly charming and itself is a fine example. Measurements: Height 32cm, Width 21cm framed.
