Renaissance Old Master Correggio Saint Madonna Christ Huge 18th Century Antique Oil Painting. A fine and large original oil painting on canvas depicting the Holy Mary with the infant Christ in a classical setting with a landscape beyond. An 18th century superbly painted evocation of Correggio’s’Adoration of the Christ Child’ of 1526 which is held in the Uffizi in Florence. Of exceptional quality, this work is very possibly one of Zoffany’s or Stefaneschi’s grand scale copies of the original painting. In good condition commensurate with age and h oused in a good original gilt frame , ready to hang. Approximate image dimensions are: 32 3/4” x 26 3/4′. Formerly held in a gentleman’s private collection in Kent, England.
