DESCRIPTION / CONDITION / PROVENANCE. This is a beautiful, well executed, oil painting on wood panel, of Mary holding Jesus and a Angel/Woman off to the right looking at Jesus. Painting is definitely old, but we are not sure exactly how old. Painting is signed by the artist in the lower mid area, (see photos) unfortunately the signature is hard to make out. Painting looks like a old reproduction/copy after one of Sir Anthony Van Dyck’s paintings, not sure, either way is a beautiful piece. Painting is mounted in a gold gesso frame that is quite loose at the corners, and is falling apart, will need to be repaired or re-framed. The condition of the painting is very nice, no damage that we can see, could use a light cleaning and possibly a coat of varnish. This piece was acquired from a antique dealer in Belgium.
