17th Century Silk Embroidered Chasuble Back Ecclesiastical Religious Flowers
15th to 19th Century. Antique Italian Ecclesiastical Chasuble Back. Beautifully embroidered in silks and wools in a naturalistic pattern on a hand woven linen ground. Roses, peonies, morning glories, tulips , carnations and strawberries, among large scale meandering garlands. The orphrey band is simply indicated with yellow and cream embroidery. Dating from late 17th century. Good antique condition with appropriate signs of wear commensurate with great age and use. Some loose missing threads, some marks to ground silk. A very rare museum worthy religious textile. SIZE:- 50 inches long (max) x 24.5 inches wide average.
