17th Century Silk Embroidered Chasuble Front Ecclesiastical Religious Flowers
15th to 19th Century. Antique Italian Ecclesiastical Chasuble Front. Beautifully embroidered in silks and wools in a naturalistic pattern on a hand woven linen ground. Roses, peonies, morning glories, tulips , carnations and strawberries, among large scale meandering garlands. The orphrey band is simply indicated with yellow and cream embroidery. Dating from late 17th century. Antique as found condition with appropriate signs of wear commensurate with great age and use. Areas where over the centuries the embroidery has worn away. Some marks, small holes. Incense stain to reverse , which only shows through in a couple of smallish spots on the front. SIZE:- 29 inches x 23 inches.
