Rare and beautiful antique reliquary from France, in the center a tiny figurine of the Virgin Mary with Infant Jesus surrounded by fancy papperolles done by the nuns that made these, and labels showing 19 relics including Saint Therese; and around the center section a gold heart, possibly metal, all mounted on a red background in an oval box quite old itself with red inner, it would have had a lid before the Sisters used it to make this reliquary. This special one of a kind beautiful container measures 5″ tall and 4″ wide and in good condition. The glass on the top was inserted from the front, so it is actually removeable if one desired to look inside, we never did. This is one of the first reliquary we bought over 35 years ago and has graced our non-smoking home ever since, but now time to downsize. This is a religious item considered a sacramental and should be displayed in a way of honor and respect.
