Description of item for sale: This beautifully shaped and carved solid oak pulpit/lectern is from France or possibly Belgium. We date it to the mid to late 1800’s. It was undoubtedly the main part of a pulpit-note the unfinished rear edges where it was attached to another structure. The medallion inscriptions are in Latin and translate God, faith, charity and hope. It is very solidly built and in very good antique condition with no notable damage. Note several cracks from aging of the wood (see photos). The interior surface is covered with a fabric liner that was glued in place. There is no woodworm or dry rot.
