FrenchAntiqueManoir is a charming antique french brocante and antiques from 18th century until the Art Déco period which come essentially from the Loire Valley, known for its history, wine, family property, manoir and castles. There are crowns of Queens which are on many nostalgic sites of the Royal orders, but there are also crowns which we could locate in the “Kingdom of Heaven”. They are all very beautiful, but the one which appears above seems to me exceptional by the quality of the inspiration, associated with the quality of the work, and with an important symbolism. I invite you to discover other religious crown in my shop, all very elaborated. This sacred art gilded brass religious Virgin Mary crown has a beautiful six chiseled bands decorated with fantastic flourish raised decor and ornated with three faceted clear glass jewels. The bands are separated by a flower stylizing fleur de lys with acanthus leaves and adorned at the center with a clear faceted glass jewel. The lower band shows an intricate decor of rich ornamental design of acanthus leaves in relief, ornated with a row of jewels. The top carries an orb (a circular surface) surmounted by a crucifix, engraved with a flourish scrolled decor and carries a clear jewel at the center of it. The gilded brass royal crown still has its original crossbar spike which helped maintain fixed onto statue’s head. The crown shows an intricate decor all over that is full of details. Dating to the late 1800, it has aged so wonderfully. The gilded solid brass is still present and has gained a beautiful patina throughout the years. All the jewels are present and everything is in place and well fixed. The crown is an emblem of royalty and victory. Jesus wore only a crown of thorns. It was in the 17th century that Count Alexander Sforza, to show his piety towards the Mother of infant Jesus, sent at his expense gold crowns to the most famous Virgins of his time. Since 1631, the date of this initiative, the gesture of piety of the Count Alexander Sforza became the custom. The measurements : 12cm/ 4.72″ height (not including the crossbar spike), 18cm/7.09″ height (including the crossbar spike), the large is 8cm/ 3.15.
