15th to 19th Century. Antique Religious Needlework hanging. Dating from 16th century circa 1570. Originally from an Orphrey Panel. Rectangular panel worked in silk and Metallic threads depicting a Saint. Above a large metallic stumpwork motif. Appliqued onto home spun linen ground. Original hand worked metallic tassel fringe and trimmings. The hanging is almost four hundred and fifty years old. Shows appropriate signs of wear/ losses, marks commensurate with great age.
