This antique polychrome religious statue depicts the Blessed Virgin holding Jesus. Handmade from wood, this statue is beautifully crafted. Unfortunately the polychrome is beginning to delaminate from the wood due to its age. Please see all of the pictures for details. The intricate work and vibrant colors make it a unique and collectible piece for those interested in religious artifacts. With the exception of the hand, it appears to be carved from one block of wood, possibly teak due its significant weight of 15.2 lbs. It measures 24 inches tall and the base is 6.5 inches deep and 7.5 inches wide. Mary is standing on a crescent moon perhaps depicting her ascension into heaven. The plaits of her hair is very unique and different. The baby Jesus holds the world in his hand while blessing the viewer. Please inquire with any questions.
