A hand-painted icon depicting Our Lady Hodegetria with the Christ Child, created in accordance with the tradition of Byzantine icon painting. Mary is shown as the One Who Points the Way to Christ, which is one of the most recognizable and important iconographic types in Christianity. The icon was painted on a wooden panel using gold and tempera paints, giving it a traditional character and rich depth of colour. A certificate of authenticity is attached to the reverse, confirming that the icon was hand-painted on wood using gold and egg tempera. It also bears the model designation “The Virgin Hodegetria, ” inspired by a 14th-century icon from the 1360s held at the Pokrovsky Monastery. The icon is framed.
