Lionel Reiss was the director of the art department at MGM studios in Los Angeles and New York for 30 years. He was the creator of the lion roaring logo at the beginning and end of MGM movies. He is a highly collectible Jewish American artist. In his many Jewish artbooks, he chronicles the life and history of the Jewish people and Israel. This is a rare example of art done in Israel during one of his frequent trips. Painted in 1952, it shows Eilat, the southern most tip of Israel at the Gulf of Acaba with very little civilization. Today, Eilat is a frequently visited tourist fishing town famous for it’s resorts. It measures 19 1/2″ X 15 1/2″ with the frame. The picture itself measures 9″ X 13″.
