Offering this late 18th Century ITALIAN SCHOOL Oil Painting of MARY MAGDALENE. No evident signature; not dated. In a giltwood frame. Overall stable condition with overall craquelure surface. Two paint flake in insignificant areas of painting. Canvas: 9.25W x 12H, plus frame. I dont see obvious evidence of repairs but, based on the vivid colors, suspect the painting was been cleaned in the last 30 yrs. I do not have a black light so cannot confirm any inpainting. Please examine pictures closely. Canvas carries annotation en verso that reads Demar and Oct 1972. This could be marking made by previous owner, gallery or restoration studio but does not represent artist or production year. Based on age, type and condition of canvas, the stretcher wood and nails used to secure canvas this painting was produced in the later half of the 1700s.
