His very beautiful pair of antique Italian Gothic style painting in gilded wood features a hand painted image of an angel incised in the gold leaf background and was inspired by the Renaissance painters of Florence. The pair featured here are framed in a Gothic arch with gold gilt frames. Pieces such as these, which were created by artisans and artists in the nineteenth century, were inspired by masterpieces of Italian religious art and were made for Europeans and Americans who were making the famous Grand Tour.
