Italian Renaissance 1600’s, Saint Cecilia & Angel, Old Master Antique Oil Painting. A wonderful and rare survival and fresh to market, late 16th or early 17th century Italian oil on re-lined canvas depicting St Cecilia playing an organ and attended by an angel. The haloed Saint Cecilia, her eyes raised heaven-wards with an angel at her side. Probably late 16th century or early 17th century, with still fine colouring and definition of the subjects and of the various elements. In good condition commensurate with age , previously glazed for many decades which has helped preserve the work. Housed in a good gilt Florentine style pierced frame, ready to hang. The image dimensions are approximately: 21” x 16 1/2” (53cm x 42cm). In my own collection for some time and prior to my ownership with a private collector in Naples, Italy.
