Large antique 19th century hand carved wood Corpus Christi (Body of Christ) sculpture. Striking and beautiful, the figure exhibits such superb quality craftsmanship. This dimensional figure is likely carved from Lindenwood or fruit wood perhaps. The corpus sculpture is realistically rendered with a defined musculature and detailed features, well defined hands and feet. In overall good antique condition, showing general signs of age. The finely carved corpus of Christ measures 24″ total length from hand to foot, the body measures 21 3/4″ from head to foot, x 20 1/4 across from hand to hand. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Lovely patina to the wood from age.
