This is a beautiful and rare copy of the collection of essays on the Bible stories, religion, and morality, collected and edited by the great Christian Minister and writer, Reverend Edward E. Hale: The Rosary of Illustrations of The Bible, published in 1848. The copy we offer here is unique in that it has a red cover (more typically the cover is a darker tone of green or blue). As noted, the book has wear from age and use, stray marks to the covers and internal pages, a tear to the cover stock at the top of the spine, fading of paper, and a notable amount of foxing around the illustrations. That said, considering age, the book looks great – fabulous gilded cover illustrations of The Lord Jesus Christ, quite a bit of original gilding on the page edges, and good strong binding. A true rare book jewel.
