Rear inner hinge loose separation seen in photos. Original black cloth hardcover shows considerable age-related wear, including rubbing, fading, discoloration, worn corners and edges, and wear along the spine. This is a nearly 100-year-old volume that retains wonderful historical character. Please examine all photographs carefully for the most accurate representation of condition. A SCARCE SURVIVOR FROM THE EARLY HISTORY OF THE BOOK OF MORMON IN SPANISH. Offered here is an original 1929 Spanish-language edition of El Libro de Mormon, published by the Mexican Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and printed by Zion’s Printing and Publishing Company in Independence, Missouri. This historically significant edition preserves the pioneering Spanish translation prepared by Melitón G. Trejo and Jaime Z. Stewart under the direction of Apostle Moses Thatcher. The text was later carefully compared with earlier editions, revised, and supplemented with translated references and additional material by Rey L. Pratt, the influential president of the Mexican Mission. The title page reads. El Libro de Mormon – Una Relación Escrita por la Mano de Mormon sobre Planchas Tomadas de las Planchas de Nefi. While not the 1886 first Spanish edition, this is an important early revised edition produced during a formative period in the growth of the Church throughout Mexico and the Spanish-speaking world. Copies of this 1929 Trejo-Stewart-Pratt edition are increasingly difficult to locate. Original 1929 publication. Complete Spanish-language text. Published by the Mexican Mission. Printed by Zion’s Printing and Publishing Company. Independence, Jackson County, Missouri. Translation by Melitón G. Revised and expanded by Rey L. Original black cloth hardcover binding. Authentic antique LDS and Mexican Mission history. The heavily aged exterior gives this copy the unmistakable presence of a book that has survived generations of ownership and use. It would make a compelling addition to a collection of early LDS publications, Books of Mormon in foreign languages, Mexican Mission history, religious Americana, or historic Bible and scripture translations. A remarkable artifact connecting the early Spanish translation of the Book of Mormon with the expansion of the Latter-day Saint movement into Mexico and Latin America.
