C18th Metallic Silk Embroidered Chasuble Apron Ecclesiastical Religious Textlile
Antique Italian Ecclesiastical Chasuble Apron. Beautifully embroidered in silks and metallic threads on a cream silk ground. Dating from early 18th century. Expected antique condition with appropriate signs of wear commensurate with great age and use. Some loose missing threads, some marks /wear to ground silk, antique patina to metallic threads. The linen lining has marks, a legacy from its being bonded to a backing and framed. These marks are superficial to the back lining only and in no way show through to the front. I removed this textile from a very old frame that had simply fallen apart over the centuries. I have salvaged the little hand engraved brass plaque that was attached to the frame, describing the textiles Provenance. A very rare museum worthy religious textile. A fine example of eighteenth century Italian workmanship. SIZE 31 inches long x 26 inches widest narrowing to 18 inches.
