Original Dated Religious Painting by Newton 1927, 42″ X 34″ frame size, canvas measures to 36″ X 28″, 3 thick including the frame. Museum comparable painting, 86 years old and signed by the artist, in great antique condition. The frame is made out of wood and is the original frame for this painting. It does not have any cuts, repairs, or serious chips, although there are some small white dots along the frame. We did not clean this item or touch it; it could use some professional cleaning. Canvas is a little bit loose on the frame due to the missing screws of one of the metal canvas holders on the bottom left-hand side. Painting is an original of the artist, the artist used the smaller copy of the painting’s subject, (which I placed behind the canvas for size comparison in the pictures), to paint this subject. If you look at the smaller picture, you can see that this artist changed some of the details including the woman’s face, the crack in the wall, and the man’s blue overthrow has a brown/burgundy color on the top shoulder side and bottoms lower arm side.
